Your tour starts and ends in Athens and includes guided sightseeing with an expert Local Guide. Among the sights you will see, you’ll visit the Acropolis, located on a rocky promontory and dating to the 5th century BC. Then, enjoy a 7-night cruise on the Aegean Sea visiting some of the most beautiful islands in the world. Cruise to Mykonos, Greece's jet-set island with its seafront village, sandy beaches, and whitewash houses. Wander through the picturesque alleys and narrow streets; take photos of the windmills that overlook the embankment; relax at a waterfront café; and watch for the official mascot of Mykonos, a pelican. Also cruise to Kea; Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and antiquity’s most sacred island; Santorini (weather permitting), still an active volcano offering one of the world's most breathtaking panoramas; Rethymnon on Crete, with beautiful mountains, wonderful beaches, and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Greece; Kythira, a lesser-known and peaceful gem; Monemvassia, known for its Byzantine monuments and amazing views; Nauplia, with its charming Old Town and medieval fortifications; and Hydra or Spetses.

Itinerary (2017)

Day 1Athens, Greece.
 Welcome to Athens! At 6 pm, meet your Globus Host and traveling companions for a welcome drink.
Day 2Athens.
 Sightseeing with a Local Guide features a visit to the world-famous ACROPOLIS, perched high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the city. Here, see the Parthenon, the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens, the Temple of Athena Nike, and enjoy a panoramic view that includes glimpses of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Theater of Dionysus, and the beautifully preserved Theseum, where Socrates taught. Later, a city orientation tour features the Old Parliament House and a picture stop at the Panathenaic Stadium. Built in the 2nd century AD, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble, and was host to the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight, why not try out local fare and entertainment reminiscent of Zorba the Greek? (B)
Day 3Athens–Marina Zea (Embarkation)–Kea.
 Embark your cruise yacht between 2 pm and 3 pm in Marina Zea and depart via Cape Sounion to Kea. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner on board. Later, time at leisure to explore Kea’s tiny port, Korrisiaw. Depart in the early hours for Delos, with an overnight at sea. (B,D)
Day 4Cruising: Delos–Mykonos.
 Enjoy an optional morning tour of the unique archaeological site of Delos, antiquity’s most sacred island. Then, on to Mykonos, with a swim stop on the way. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the island’s cosmopolitan lifestyle. Overnight in Mykonos. (B,L)
Day 5Cruising: Santorini.
 Arrive in Santorini around Noon and experience the stunning natural drama of the volcanic caldera. Consider an optional tour to the archaeological sites and typical villages with their stunning views over the Aegean Sea. Sail overnight to Crete. (B,D)
Day 6Cruising: Rethymnon, Crete.
 Arrive this morning at Crete’s lively port of Rethymnon. Perhaps join an optional tour to the ancient city of Knossos near Heraklion. Depart late for Kythira and overnight at sea. (B,D)
Day 7Cruising: Kythira.
 A late-morning swim stop, then afternoon arrival on Kythira, a lesser-known gem that’s quickly becoming a favorite among visitors. The evening is free to visit pretty Chora and bask in the charms of this peaceful island. Overnight in Kythira. (B,L)
Day 8Cruising: Monemvassia–Nauplia.
 In Monemvassia, explore the medieval town’s Byzantine and Venetian architecture. Enjoy a swim stop before arriving this evening at Nauplia for an overnight. Its charming Old Town and impressive medieval fortifications are worth checking out. Overnight in Nauplia. (B,D)
Day 9Cruising: Nauplia–Spetses or Hydra.
 This morning, join the optional excursion to Mycenae. Early afternoon departure for Spetses or Hydra, with free time to explore on your own. Overnight in port. (B,D)
Day 10Cruising: Marina Zea (Disembarkation)–Athens.
 Depart in the early hours for your return to Marina Zea. Disembark after breakfast. The remainder of the day is free to catch up on last-minute shopping. Enjoy an optional dinner in a romantic restaurant. (B)
Day 11Athens.
 Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (B)
