Your adventure begins with guided sightseeing and overnight stay in the historic European boom town of Manaus. Wake up the following day for an adventure in the Brazilian Amazon with a cruise to your Ecopark Jungle Lodge. Spend two nights in the Amazon rainforest with all the comforts of home, while exploring the jungle paradise with a Naturalist Guide. Next, fly to Rio de Janeiro and enjoy a private sightseeing tour with a local expert. Your tour includes a cog-wheel train through Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain, home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the new Seven Modern Wonders of the World. In Buenos Aires, your private sightseeing features the must-see attractions, including the La Boca district and the Cemetery of the Recoleta, where Eva Peron is buried. From a local expert, hear why Buenos Aires is called the “Paris of South America” and learn insider secrets. In Santiago, your private sightseeing with an expert local guide includes the Plaza de Armas and an inside visit to the 18th-century Cathedral. Throughout the vacation, the inside visits include VIP access, so you can skip the lines. Why be like all the other tourists standing in line when you can be up close and personal with the tango dancers in the La Boca district or capturing the perfect shot from atop Corcovado Mountain?

Itinerary (2023)

Day 1ARRIVE IN MANAUS.
 After arriving at your hotel, meet up for private city sightseeing to view vestiges of Manaus’ glory days during the rubber boom. Your first stop will be the famous opera house, built in 1896 with materials imported from Europe. Next, visit a bustling local market filled with regional foods and wares.
Day 2MANAUS–AMAZON JUNGLE.
 Today, your “Meeting of the Waters” cruise passes by the impressive British-built Customs House and the floating port. Cruise along the chocolate-colored Rio Negro to its confluence with the yellow-gray Rio Solimões, where the two rivers form the mighty Amazon. For four miles, the differently colored bodies of water flow side by side and never mix! After lunch on the river, explore a jungle island (water level permitting) with fascinating native flora and fauna. Later this afternoon, arrive at the Ecopark Jungle Lodge, situated on the banks of the Rio Negro inside the Amazon rainforest. (B,L,D)
Day 3AMAZON JUNGLE.
 Accompanied by a Naturalist, enjoy a guided jungle walk that introduces you to the flora and fauna that thrive in the Amazon. After lunch, depart the lodge and sail up the river to visit a Caboclo’s native Amazon village to learn about their traditions, costumes, and culture. Also, try your hand at piranha fishing! Later, visit the Monkey Jungle Reserve, where researchers work to rehabilitate captive primates and reintroduce them to the jungle. Here, you have the opportunity to see the feeding of spider, squirrel, woolly, and capuchin monkeys. This evening, maybe venture back out with your Naturalist via canoe into the flooded forest to appreciate the sounds of the jungle at night. Keep watch for small alligators (and other night creatures)! (B,L,D)
Day 4AMAZON JUNGLE–RIO DE JANEIRO.
 This morning, depart your Amazon lodge for a flight to fabulous Rio. Welcome to South America’s capital of glamour—Rio de Janeiro! Your Local Host will be available with suggested activities during your free time. (B).
Day 5RIO DE JANEIRO
 Today, your private city tour journeys to the Cosme Velho district to board a cog-wheel train that will whisk you through the lush tropical vegetation of Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain. This rounded peak rising 2,300 feet from the bay below is one of the New7Wonders of the World and home to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. Enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panorama, which affords sweeping views of the city and beaches below. The afternoon and evening are at leisure. Tonight, you may opt to join an outing to a fun churrascaria for a feast of barbecued meats that are marinated and roasted over charcoal in true Brazilian style. (B)
Day 6RIO DE JANEIRO
 Enjoy a full day at leisure. Your Local Host will be happy to suggest optional activities and excursions to fill your day. (B)
Day 7RIO DE JANEIRO–IGUASSU FALLS
 Fly to Iguassu Falls and enjoy a private tour of the Brazilian side of the falls, with some cataracts as high as 250 feet. The clouds of spray, incessant roar, and surrounding luxuriant tropical growth make this an unforgettable natural wonder. (B)
Day 8IGUASSU FALLS
 This morning with your Local Host, take the Ecological Jungle Train and tour the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls, with numerous walkways that wind under the crashing water. (B)
Day 9IGUASSU FALLS–BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA.
 Fly to Buenos Aires, proud capital of the vast country that occupies most of the southern part of the continent. After arriving at your central hotel, you will have time to become acquainted with the “Paris of South America” and its wide boulevards and outdoor cafés. (B)
Day 10BUENOS AIRES
 Your private city tour features the La Boca district, San Telmo, Plaza de Mayo to see La Casa Rosada (the President’s Pink House) and Metropolitan Cathedral, Teatro Colón Opera House, and Recoleta Cemetery, burial site of Eva Perón. (B)
Day 11BUENOS AIRES
 Perhaps take an excursion to experience Argentine country life at an estancia. (B)
Day 12BUENOS AIRES–SANTIAGO, CHILE
 Depart this morning on a scenic flight over the Andes before arriving in Santiago, Chile’s capital. This country is more than 10 times longer than it is wide, with 2,650 miles of beautiful Pacific coastline. (B)
Day 13SANTIAGO
 Located in the center of the country and perched between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes, Santiago has evolved as the country’s political, commercial, and cultural capital. Step back into the 16th century on your private tour as your Local Guide traces the city’s history and heritage. Start at La Moneda, the official Government Palace, and nearby San Cristobal Hill with its landmark statue of the Virgin Mary. Your tour ends at the Plaza de Armas, the main square, with a visit to the 18th-century Cathedral. (B)
Day 14SANTIAGO
 Today is at leisure. Perhaps take a trip to the beautiful coastal region west of Santiago and the cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. (B)
Day 15SANTIAGO
 Your vacation ends after breakfast this morning. (B)
