9 Day Package from Manaus to Iguassu Falls 
Flying Down to Rio...it’s the classic where Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers first appeared together. And now you can create your own classic and fly to Rio—Monograms makes it easy! On this 6-day vacation to Rio de Janeiro & Iguassu Falls, we’ve arranged your hotel reservations, daily breakfast, and sightseeing. Plus, in both cities, you’ll have a Monograms Local Host®, someone who will answer questions, offer suggestions, help arrange your activities, translate if you need it, and help make sure your vacation is what you want it to be.

Your adventure begins with guided sightseeing and overnight stay in the historic European boom town of Manaus. Wake up the following day for an adventure in the Brazilian Amazon with a cruise to your Ecopark Jungle Lodge. Spend two nights in the Amazon rainforest with all the comforts of home, while exploring the jungle paradise with a Naturalist Guide.

When you arrive in Rio, Monograms can pick you up at the airport, so you don’t have to deal with hassles after the flight to Brazil. Your Local Host will meet you at your selected hotel with materials to help familiarize you with the city. The next day, after an included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel for a private, guided tour of the city with a local expert. We’ll take you to the Cosme Velho district for a cog-wheel train through the Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain, home to the 130-foot Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New 7 Modern Wonders of the World. We’ve scouted out the best place to capture photos of the city and beaches below, so be sure to bring your camera. You’ll also have plenty of leisure time to explore Rio. Perhaps take an excursion to Petropolis, the summer palace of former Emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil; take a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain; or stroll along one of the many beaches to people-watch. Your Local Host can point you in the right direction and help you tailor your free time to fit your interests.

Then you’re off to Iguassu Falls, one of the Earth’s most spectacular waterfalls, where you’ll have a private tour of the Brazilian side of the falls, encompassing 275 separate falls! Enjoy the thunderous roar, clouds of spray, and rainbows that form in the mist and sun. The next day, your private tour focuses on the Argentine side of the falls. Your Local Host will take you on the Ecological Jungle Train and along numerous walkways above and under the water.

Itinerary (2023)

Day 1ARRIVE IN MANAUS.
 After arriving at your hotel, meet up for private city sightseeing to view vestiges of Manaus’ glory days during the rubber boom. Your first stop will be the famous opera house, built in 1896 with materials imported from Europe. Next, visit a bustling local market filled with regional foods and wares.
Day 2MANAUS–AMAZON JUNGLE.
 Today, your “Meeting of the Waters” cruise passes by the impressive Britishbuilt Customs House and the floating port. Cruise along the chocolate-colored Rio Negro to its confluence with the yellow-gray Rio Solimões, where the two rivers form the mighty Amazon. For four miles, the differently colored bodies of water flow side by side and never mix! After lunch on the river, explore a jungle island (water level permitting) with fascinating native flora and fauna. Later this afternoon, arrive at the Ecopark Jungle Lodge, situated on the banks of the Rio Negro inside the Amazon rainforest. (B,L,D)
Day 3AMAZON JUNGLE.
 Accompanied by a Naturalist, enjoy a guided jungle walk that introduces you to the flora and fauna that thrive in the Amazon. After lunch, depart the lodge and sail up the river to visit a Caboclo’s native Amazon village to learn about their traditions, costumes, and culture. Also, try your hand at piranha fishing! Later, visit the Monkey Jungle Reserve, where researchers work to rehabilitate captive primates and reintroduce them to the jungle. Here, you have the opportunity to see the feeding of spider, squirrel, woolly, and capuchin monkeys. This evening, maybe venture back out with your Naturalist via canoe into the flooded forest to appreciate the sounds of the jungle at night. Keep watch for small alligators (and other night creatures)! (B,L,D)
Day 4AMAZON JUNGLE–RIO DE JANEIRO.
 This morning, depart your Amazon lodge for a flight to fabulous Rio. Welcome to South America’s capital of glamour—Rio de Janeiro! Your Local Host will be available with suggested activities during your free time. (B)
Day 5RIO DE JANEIRO
  Today, your private city tour takes you to the Cosme Velho district to board a cog-wheel train that will whisk you through the lush tropical vegetation of Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain. This rounded peak rising 2,300 feet from the bay below is one of the New7Wonders of the World and home to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. Enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the city and beaches below. The afternoon and evening are at leisure. Tonight, consider joining a fun churrascaria for a feast of barbecued meats that are marinated and roasted over charcoal in true Brazilian style. (B)
Day 6RIO DE JANEIRO
 Enjoy a full day at leisure. Your Local Host will suggest an optional Jeep tour to the rainforest in the middle of the city, Tijuca National Park, and its bird sanctuary. This afternoon, you may elect to discover historic Petropolis, a mountain resort and site of the former summer palace of Emperor Dom Pedro II, or take an optional excursion to visit the iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain. Day 7RIO DE JANEIRO–IGUASSU FALLS.
 Fly to Iguassu Falls at the crossroads of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. This masterpiece of nature encompasses 275 separate falls and spans almost two miles. The afternoon’s private tour is dedicated to enjoying the spectacle of this 2-mile-wide torrent. With some cataracts as high as 250 feet, it’s nothing short of hypnotic. The clouds of spray, the incessant roar, and the surrounding luxuriant tropical growth make this an unforgettable natural wonder. (B)
Day 8IGUASSU FALLS
 This morning, take the Ecological Jungle Train with your Local Host and tour the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls with numerous walkways that wind above and under the crashing water. (B)
Day 9IGUASSU FALLS
 Your vacation ends after breakfast this morning. (B)
