Day: 1 Arrive Milan
Settle into the sophistication and elegance of Italy's fashion capital, our launch pad for a Hidden Journey through Northern Italy. Meet your Travel Director and fellow travel companions for a Welcome Reception and orientation drive to see the refined cityscape of Milan.Welcome Reception
Day: 2 Milan Sightseeing – Aosta Valley Scenic Drive – Cherasco (Piedmont) (4 Nights)
This morning, we delve into the history of this modern economic powerhouse in the company of a Local Specialist who will share some of its most impressive sights including the Duomo, an incredibly ornate and impressive Gothic cathedral, and La Galleria, one of the world's oldest shopping galleries. The rest of the morning is free to explore the verve of this hard-working city. Witness the extraordinary talents of da Vinci and Michelangelo first-hand, relax at a pavement café in trendy Navigli or climb the steps of the Duomo for panoramic views of the city. We leave Milan this afternoon, travelling through the dramatic frontier-land bordering France and Switzerland before arriving at the 19th century Fort Bard, built by the House of Savoy, and today the home of the Museum of the Alps, which shares fascinating insight into the region and its history. For the next four nights, we stay in an intimate 17th century monastery in the quaint town of Cherasco.Buffet Breakfast
Day: 3 Cherasco Wine Tasting – La Morra Excursion
This morning we explore the picturesque town of Cherasco, once described by Napoleon as the most beautiful spot in Italy and the home of delicious chocolate and hazelnut flavours embodied in its traditional Baci de Cherasco. Ambling through its hidden streets, we view the 17th century Palazzo Salmatoris and the impressive array of medieval and baroque buildings that stand to this day. We'll visit a local winery and pop the cork on the region's delicious viticulture heritage, indulging in some of the delicious vintages that have made this region famous, before visiting La Morra, a hilltop village offering spectacular views across the Piedmont region.Buffet Breakfast
Day: 4 Asti Excursion
Renowned globally for its outstanding sparkling wine, the centuries-old town of Asti is ours to explore today - from its magnificent Romanesque Gothic Cathedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, to the old market Piazza San Secondo and quaint cobblestone streets set within the old wall of a medieval city that was once one of the most powerful independent cities in western Italy. See the imposing remnants of 'The City of 100 Towers' up close, of which only 12 actually still survive, including Torre Troyana. Day: 5 Turin Excursion
Wander along the grand boulevards of Turin today in the company of a Local Specialist who will share the sophistication and elegance of a city that remains the home of Italy's former royal family. Italy's largest and most famous river, the Po, snakes its way through this aristocratic city, whose Antonelliana building and Piazza San Carlo we will have an opportunity to see during our orientation tour. We stop at the picturesque Piazza San Carlo with its 17th century façades and the Church of San Lorenzo where a full-scale picture of the famous Shroud of Turin is on display, before indulging in the rich flavours of the local Biscotti and steamy Bicerin. An intimate encounter with Turin's gourmet scene sees us visit Europe's largest open-air food market to sample local produce, after which enjoy free time to explore the city. Visit the fascinating Cinema Museum located in the Mole Antonelliana, a fascinating monument and the symbol of the city of Turin. Gain insight into Egyptian archaeology and anthropology at the Egyptian Museum. Or stroll down the elegant shopping streets of Via Roma and Via Garibaldi exuding Torinese sophistication.Buffet Breakfast
Day: 6 Cherasco (Piedmont) – Lake Orta – Baveno (Lake Maggiore)
Today we go off the beaten track and journey to the enchanting Lake Orta, known by locals as La Cenerentola (Cinderella) because it is far-less visited than the lakes of Como and Maggiore, but widely regarded as more beautiful. We venture to Lake Maggiore this evening to enjoy a memorable Farewell Dinner celebrating Italian culture, food and heritage.Buffet Breakfast, Farewell Dinner
Day: 7 Baveno (Lake Maggiore) – transfer to Milan Malpensa Airport
